Hello friends and fellow rafting people. So the update for the 2025 season is looking really good. With a dismal start to the snow year we have slowly inched our way into a fantastic looking season. What I expect is a season very similar to 2024.
Currently the Kaweah basin is officially sitting at 86% percent of April 1st normal but the April snow surveys have not come in yet! We continue to get rain (and snow in the upper elevations) and the snow pack is slowly building rather than melting.
For the Kaweah River, look for good boatable flows from now until late June with the lower river having runable flows until early July. Keep in mind that peak flows typically occur around Memorial day. Really it corresponds with the first real heat of the season with hot days and warm nights leading to a melt melt cycle. My best guess is that the high flows will be just under our cut off flows for safe rafting trips for the most part.
Looking forward to seeing you out there this season!
